Happy Birthday Me !

March 29, 2007

Well seeing as I am the only person who can write a new post, I better put this up. Today I (Paul Richard James Savage) am 27 years old, in my late twenties so to say. I would like to thank my parents for making such a beautiful specimen of a fine son, my sister for moulding me and bashing me into shape and to L for putting up with me and getting me tickets to see the Boston Red Sox for my pressie.

And another thing to make me happy today, is that I got paid from work. What a nice pressie !

Speaking German and the problems associated …

March 27, 2007

Today I was in the bakery with A, and I asked (in German) for my roll, a Jalapeño Cream cheese roll, “Ich hätte gern ein Jalapeñofrischekäsesemmel bitte“. Which I’ve said many times and gotten the right thing. But today I walk in and ask for the same thing, and the lady replies “Sorry, I do not know English“. Then I told her (in German) that I had ordered in German, and repeated it, and then her colleague came over and took the order. The strange thing was that the original girl didn’t come back to the counter, she just hid away in the corner until I had left ! Maybe she had the reply ready when she heard me and A speak English in the queue, but that means she didn’t even listen to what I had to say.

Other strange things that I noticed today was this German guy who hacked out the contents of his throat and nasal passage on the floor in the communal showers at the gym. I mean it wasn’t just once or twice, this fellow was constantly doing it. I know it will all get washed away eventually, but still hearing someone do this just turned my stomach !

God I Love Food

March 25, 2007

This weekend was quite the gastronomic weekend. Here is a pic of what I had on Friday night :

It was some fine ribs from Restaurant Rusticana (www.rusticana.de) is near Ostbahnhof and well worth a visit. I think they were the nicest ribs I’ve ever had in my life. Properly cooked with an excellent sauce on top. They went down a dream with some Starkbier (extra strong German Beer, served during Lent) If you visit do remind me to bring you here !

And then Saturday myself and A went on and all you can eat Sushi adventure, watching the nice fresh fish zoom around on the Sushi Train was good fun. It was the first time I’ve had all you can eat Sushi, and I think I must have polished off more than 20 plates of the stuff. At the end of it all I was so stuffed I thought I would need one of these

Another New site.

March 23, 2007

Yesterday I purchased the domain name “www.MySpaceIreland.com” with an aim to get rid of some of my extra bandwidth and provide a little service of helping people make some nice layouts for their MySpace layouts. I reckon I have 20GB of the 25GB a month that I can share. I haven’t really decided as how to lay everything out yet. But the aim is to have it mostly done over this weekend, when L is doing her 14 hours of study.

Don’t worry I think that the background won’t be the black that I have now. The luminous colours on black do stand out nicely but I think I will go for a plainer approach. And the aim is to have about 30 pages in all with maybe 10 different layouts and 10 tips on how to make your MySpace profile nicer.

New Week, New Layout

March 18, 2007

Today I’ve busied myself with upgrading feckthat and adding some nice new features(i.e. arcade). But besides that the main other news is that I’ve started to finally get the blog into some shape and form that I actually like. So let’s see if it will encourage me to post more frequently.

Nothing too crazy happening here in Munich, except that Yahoo! Weather thinks that we are going to have around 3° C for the rest of the week. And they even hint at snow. This seems funny as so far to date this winter we’ve only had 4 days of snow, compared with 6 months of the white stuff in 2005-2006 winter.

Anyway time to make dinner !

Back with a Bang and some sound !

apple iPod

The last time I posted, I mentioned that I had gotten an iPod Shuffle 2G from L for Christmas. It’s great, easy to use and long battery life. But, here’s the crux, it’s too easy to misplace ! For the last 2 weeks or so I’ve been looking around the apartment trying to find the little fellow. But because of it’s size it really makes it a challenge to find it. Thankfully I found it this morning in a pair of cords and now I am able to drown out the sound of German people in the morning ;) It’s not like a mobile phone, where you can give it a quick ring when you misplace it. Maybe that would be an idea for Apple, maybe they should integrate some sort of phone home feature for people like me !

In other news I updated the blog here. It’s a new style/new version of wordpress, so all that is left for me to do is to add some more posts in here ! And of course if you read, please (please) leave a comment !
